Farm Without Harm

United for Safer Farming Communities

PGG Wrightson stands behind Farm Without Harm, an industry-wide strategy and action plan initiated by Safer Farms, with the aim of helping all farmers to go home safe, every day. Developed by the agricultural sector, Farm Without Harm serves and supports all those working in the industry.

Farm Without Harm develops resources to help farming people protect each other from preventable harm, including Safety Alerts to learn from real-world incidents and a hub of videos, guides and how-to materials for managing safety risks on farms. Alongside regular resource updates, Farm Without Harm initiates campaigns to raise awareness around specific topics and risks.

By working together, the agricultural industry can reduce risks on New Zealand farms.

Safer Rides Save Lives

Launched in 2024, with funding from Rabobank, ANZCO, LIC, Craigmore Sustainables and PGG Wrightson, the Safer Rides Save Lives campaign provided $400 vouchers for 153 applicants to install crush protection devices (CPDs) to quad bikes. Alongside the vouchers, further discounts offered by CPD retailers Trax Equipment and QuadBar reduced the cost of installing CPDs by up to 75%.

The campaign was popular among smaller farm enterprises, with feedback highlighting the critical importance of safety and how cost had previously been a barrier to acquiring CPDs.

Half-arsed Stops Here

Farm Without Harm's bold campaign 'Half-arsed Stops Here’ raised awareness about the problem with the 'she'll be right' attitude.

The campaign called on everyone in farming to pull together from the back blocks, to the boardrooms, to the family breakfast table. It focused on four main areas including mental wellbeing, physical stress and injuries from handling livestock, harm from vehicles, and long-term exposure to agricultural chemicals.
