High country shearers back on the boards
PGG Wrightson wool representative Peter McCusker was recently on hand to help kick off the annual Merino and Halfbred shearing at spectacular Canterbury high country sheep station “Mt White”.
Mt White is well known amongst the high country farming community, as many have either worked there as a young musterer or taken part in the annual Autumn muster over several days. Competitors in the kayaking section of the “Coast to Coast“ adventure race will also be familiar with the Mt White bridge which forms part of this iconic race. The Waimakariri river borders much of this extensive property.
Peter has been servicing this property for over 25 years and has enjoyed many a challenging trip into this isolated property especially if the weather cuts up rough. At present the Merino wool from Mt White is contracted to Norwegian clothing brand “Devold“ as part of their “Sheep to Shop“ supplier programme.
