Our Response to the Fuel Situation

PGG Wrightson knows farmers and growers are feeling the pressure and the global fuel and supply situation is causing a lot of uncertainty.

As this is an evolving situation, we will regularly update our website with information on how we are responding to these events and how this may impact on our operations and how you do business with us.

‘Helping grow the country’ is our vision, it is at the heart of what we do, and this remains the case in times of challenges. For 175 years, PGG Wrightson has stood beside our customers in times of adversity, and we continue to stand with you today.

We are actively reviewing the Government’s Phases, tracking fuel stock levels, our supply chains, and what this means for you and us. We are also engaging with the Ministry for Primary Industries on the impacts of the fuel situation on the primary sector and doing what we can to anticipate and manage supply chain issues.

Frequently asked questions

Q. Will my rep still visit me?

A. Yes, our reps are out and about servicing our customers, however we are being smarter about travel to conserve fuel use.

Q. Are you experiencing difficulties securing products?

A. We are not experiencing delays in supply at present, however as we plan for spring and summer demand, we are working closely with our suppliers to ensure our commitments and requirements remain on track as planned. Where any country is restricting their exports of commodities we are again working with our suppliers to find alternatives. Where shipping times are foreseen to be longer, we’re pulling forward our timelines.

Q. Will retail product prices rise?

A. Off the back of the significant increase in crude oil cost, we are seeing an increase in global shipping costs and local freight/distribution costs which are being passed onto us. The increase in crude oil also applies to products or packaging made from plastic. Where able, we will continue to try to minimise price increases wherever possible.
