Core machine upgrade complete, electric fork truck trial in process

An upgrade and rebuild of the Number One core machine in the PGG Wrightson Christchurch wool store is complete, with the next stage of the capital programme set to roll out in the Mosgiel store shortly.

This nationwide upgrade will improve efficiency and reliability while incorporating health and safety upgrades of the machines. This will minimise downtime and provide growers with confidence that their wool will be processed in a timely manner, as well as increasing safety.

Largely involving a total rebuild of the components driving the machines, the upgrade illustrates the focus of both the company and the board to support the wool business, including enhancing health and safety.

Meanwhile, an electric fork truck is on trial in the Christchurch wool store. Working with Linde, the providers of the company’s diesel fork truck fleet, the trial is assessing the fitness of the new technology for use in the store. Should it prove fit for purpose, the new truck has the potential to roll out across PGG Wrightson’s whole nationwide fork truck fleet.
