Wool News: Wool auction livestreams moving to bidr®

New Zealand’s Virtual Saleyard bidr® will soon start livestreaming both North Island and South Island wool auctions. Offering real-time live auctions online, bidr® was designed with the involvement of  PGG Wrightson livestock agents, operations team members and farmers, and went live in mid 2019. To date it has mainly been used for livestock auctions.

Wool auctions have been livestreamed on Facebook for the past few years. Shifting to bidr® will enable additional features to be added to the livestream feed, with a more professional standard of presentation. With other auctions, bidr® has a hybrid option, accepting online bids as well as from buyers physically in the saleyard. Initially at least, this option will not be available for wool auctions, with all transactions still taking place in the auction room. However, viewing the auction and monitoring market trends without leaving the farm will become an increasingly improved experience for wool growers.

bidr® is a wholly subsidiary of PGG Wrightson and open platform for industry use.
