Top 100 LandMarks Photo Collection Entries Announced
We’re excited to announce our top 100 finalists for the LandMarks Photo Collection 2024. This year we had more than 2000 entries, which is the highest number in the last 10 years of the competition.
A celebration of rural life shines through every photo, which is a testament to the skill of all photographers who submitted their work. Each picture captures a snapshot in time, whether that showcases children learning the ways of the farm, dogs hard at work, phenomenal landscapes, hefty crops, happy and healthy livestock or a day’s hard work. One thing is clear, New Zealand’s rural sector has some serious photography talent and we're very grateful to you for sharing it with us.
We take judging the collection very seriously and you made it a tough process to narrow it down to our list of 100 finalists. First, we run the images through criteria around quality to ensure the final photos can be printed to a high resolution. Then the sorting begins, categorising into themes like animal types, horticulture, arable, children and dogs—you love your dogs! That makes it easier to examine each photo, shortlisting the cream of the crop. This year was harder than ever, so in the end we printed over 200 high-resolution photos and spread them out on every available surface for review, much to everyone’s interest in our Christchurch office.
On the 6th of August, our judges, including Chief Executive Officer Stephen Guerin, will deliberate to determine the winning entries, one for each month in our calendar. The supreme winner will also grace the cover. We will contact all winners before the public announcement on the 2nd of September.
In October, 40,000 calendars will be printed, and then distributed to PGG Wrightson stores in November. Winners will receive copies of the calendar too, along with PGG Wrightson or Wool Integrity vouchers, and the supreme winner will also receive a $1500 Visa Prezzy Card.
