Callum McDonald
PGG Wrightson Livestock - National Genetics Manager
As National Genetics Manager, Callum McDonald brings close to 20 years’ experience within the PGW Genetics team, underpinned by a strong practical farming background. Raised on a Southland sheep and beef farm, Callum combines hands-on industry knowledge with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Otago.
Since joining the Genetics team in 2008, Callum is known for his honesty and straightforward approach, prioritising building strong client relationships and well-informed breeding decisions. Now as the National Genetics Manager, Callum leads and supports the Genetics team to strengthen PGW’s genetics offering and help clients meet the demands of the evolving livestock sector.
Outside of work, Callum is an active family man, indulging in hunting, fishing and coaching his children’s sports teams.
Tom Suttor
Livestock Genetics Rep - East Coast North Island, Hawke's Bay
Tom Suttor has been a dedicated Genetics Representative in Hawke’s Bay since 2005, having started his career on a Central Hawke’s Bay farm. With a focus on building trust and relationships, Tom is passionate about helping clients select the right sires for their breeding goals.
He emphasizes that structural integrity must precede data analysis in livestock selection. Living on a lifestyle property with his wife Lottie and their two daughters, Tom finds satisfaction in witnessing the success of his clients’ progeny. His commitment to the industry is reflected in his hands-on approach to both breeding and community engagement.
Cam Heggie
Livestock Genetics Rep & Auctioneer - Upper North Island, Waikato
Cam Heggie serves as a Livestock Genetics Representative and Auctioneer in Hamilton, Waikato, bringing decades of experience to his role. Since starting his career with Dalgety Crown in 1986, Cam has held various positions within PGG Wrightson. He is dedicated to guiding farmers through their breeding programs and sourcing quality bulls and rams.
As a skilled auctioneer, he understands the significant financial implications of each sale. Cam is proud to be part of a close-knit Genetics team, known for its strong culture and collaboration. Outside of work, he and his wife, Sara, are focused on developing their lifestyle block, planting native trees and fostering their passion for the land.
Emma Pollitt
Livestock Genetics Rep - East Coast North Island, Gisborne
Emma Pollitt is a Livestock Genetics Representative for the East Coast, bringing a unique perspective to her role after working as a shepherd and large animal vet technician. Joining PGG Wrightson in 2016, she values relationship-building and seeks to enhance her clients' herds and flocks through strategic partnerships.
Emma is dedicated to long-term genetic improvement and finds joy in seeing the results of her clients' investments come to fruition. Outside of work, she judges show cattle and is developing a sheep stud on her lifestyle block north of Gisborne, furthering her commitment to the agricultural community.
Simon Eddington
Livestock Genetics Rep - Upper South Island, Canterbury
Simon Eddington, a Livestock Genetics Representative for the Upper South Island, brings a wealth of experience from his diverse background in agriculture and meat processing. After earning a Diploma in Agriculture from Lincoln, Simon has worked extensively in the industry since the early 1990s, rejoining PGG Wrightson in 2018.
His expertise in market demands drives his approach to guiding farmers in their breeding decisions. Recognizing the long-term nature of genetics, Simon emphasises careful sire selection and its lasting impact. Residing on a lifestyle block near Ashburton with his wife Nicky, he balances his professional insights with hands-on farming, finishing cattle and lambing ewes.
Simon Smith
Livestock Genetics Rep - Lower North Island, Manawatu
Simon Smith is a Genetics Representative for the Manawatu, Whanganui, and Taranaki regions, with a long-standing history at PGG Wrightson. Starting as a trainee in 1979, Simon has developed strong communication skills, earning respect from clients and colleagues alike.
He believes in building trusting relationships and values the mentoring aspects of his role. Known for his upbeat personality, Simon is committed to supporting farmers while holding them accountable for their choices. Outside work, he cherishes family time with his wife Melanie and their four adult children, enjoying the pride and inspiration they bring to his life.
Lisa Nolan
Livestock Genetics Rep - Lower South Island, Otago & West Coast
As a Genetics Representative for Otago, Lisa Nolan brings a strong practical foundation to her role. Raised on a beef farm on the West Coast, Lisa developed an early passion for livestock. She understands the realities of on-farm decision making and the importance of sound, long-term breeding strategies.
After graduating from Lincoln University with diplomas in Farm Management, she spent nine years shepherding, gaining valuable hands-on experience across commercial farming systems. Lisa is committed to building strong client relationships and supporting both stud and commercial farmers to achieve long-term genetic improvement and measurable outcomes.
Outside of work, Lisa enjoys riding horses, spending time outdoors, keeping active through sport and catching up with family and friends.
