PGG Wrightson backs Safer Rides to keep New Zealand farmers safe this season

We're proud to support the 2026 Safer Rides campaign, helping farmers access the tools and technology that could save their lives.

Quad bikes and side-by-sides are a part of life on New Zealand farms. But they're also one of the leading causes of serious injury and death in the agricultural sector. The Safer Rides campaign, run by Safer Farms, is working to change that, and PGG Wrightson is pleased to be lending our support. When a quad bike or SxS accident happens, the impact goes far beyond the rider. With the average accident putting someone out of action for 82 days, the consequences ripple through families, farm businesses, and the wider supply chain.

And with 23 lives lost since 2019, the urgency is clear. Building on a highly successful programme launched in 2024, Safer Rides 2026 combines targeted resources and messaging for farming audiences with a discount programme that makes it easier for farmers to upgrade their vehicles with lifesaving technology. PGG Wrightson has contributed to the campaign because we believe the right tools, in the right hands, save lives.

"I would absolutely recommend to other farmers that they get bars fitted. It was a great programme. I saw the       opportunity and thought, I'll do that."

Small steps, big difference

There's no single fix for farm safety, but the right combination of gear, habits, and technology makes a real difference. Taking a few minutes before heading out to check your vehicle, your tyre pressure, and your route could change the outcome of an incident, or prevent one entirely.

The Safer Rides campaign provides farmers with a full range of resources, from safety gear guidance to video content and an interactive risk matrix, to help every farmer understand their options and make informed choices.
