Brook Cushion, an auctioneer with PGG Wrightson in the Waikato region caught up with Jamie Mackay from The Country.
Brook has recently won the 11th Annual Heartland Bank Young Auctioneer competition.
Jamie asked how Brook got his start.
After leaving school at 17, Brook did a stint farming before starting with PGG Wrightson in the rural supplies store.
he then started a traineeship with Wrightson Livestock.
Jamie then speculated about the art of being an auctioneer, mentioning Neville Clark, a bit of a legend in auctioneering and rodeo circles.
Turning to the state of the Waikato region in general, Brook says the region is looking pretty good with grass growing - but slowly.
With Field Days approaching, Jamie asked what the mood was among farmers.
Brook wonders whether farmers will get the time to attend as it's a busy time on the land at the moment.
