Taranaki processor offers ‘Ample’ opportunity for cattle farmers

Mainly focusing on cull cows, PGG Wrightson Livestock responsible for procurement of North Island cattle from King Country south.

Between 500 and 550 cattle per week go through the Ample Meats plant in Stratford, Taranaki.

Since 2022 PGG Wrightson Livestock has been solely responsible for Ample Meats’ procurement. Offering cattle farmers a competitive weekly schedule, minimal trucking distances and short wait times, Ample focuses on cull cows, also processing prime steers and heifers. Product is exported to China or sold onto the local trade market. While local livestock from Taranaki and Whanganui-Manawatu are most predominantly sourced, the Ample plant also services farms in King Country, Wairarapa, Dannevirke and Hawke’s Bay.

Those electing to sell stock to Ample Meats can be assured that this is a long-term supply agreement. Both Ample and PGG Wrightson are committed to succeed by doing their best on behalf of the farmers whose cattle they process.

If you are interested in supplying Ample Meats through this arrangement, contact your local PGG Wrightson Livestock representative, who will be glad to walk you through the process.
