IHC Calf & Rural Scheme approaches $1 million for the season

Playing our part to make a true difference for some of the people and families who most need our help.

Proudly supported by PGG Wrightson, the IHC Calf & Rural Scheme is set to break the $1 million mark this season.

With just two late January sales left, IHC Calf & Rural Scheme national coordinator Lynda Young-Kennedy says the magic mark is in sight.

“With income slightly ahead of where it was at the same time last season, we have had some of the best average prices ever, with one sale yard achieving $700 at Tuakau, and sales overall averaging as high as $675, an excellent outcome.

“We are incredibly grateful for PGG Wrightson’s support. The IHC Calf & Rural Scheme has a huge impact on the lives and futures of so many people with intellectual disabilities and their families living in rural communities around the country,” she says.

PGG Wrightson Livestock national dairy specialist Jamie Cunninghame says the scheme’s success is gratifying.

“This is one of New Zealand’s longest running and most successful charitable programmes. We are delighted to help rural people do their practical best to support a community need. Our reps and admin teams are fully committed to making the scheme a success. When you see a significant number like $1 million as the bottom line outcome, that is a humbling reward for us, knowing we are playing our part to make a true difference for some of the people and their families who most need our help.”

The IHC Calf & Rural Scheme has been running for more than 40 years. To donate a calf, real or virtual, contact IHC directly, or speak to your PGG Wrightson Livestock agent.
