Kevin Waldron
Introducing Kevin Waldron: A Lifetime of Wool Expertise and Practical Support for Growers
Based in Fairfield, Dunedin, Kevin Waldron brings over 45 years of hands-on experience to his role as a Wool Representative for PGG Wrightson Wool in Otago. His wool industry journey began in 1978 when he was offered a job as a Junior Wool Classer with Wrightson NMA—on the condition that he first spend six months in the shearing sheds to gain practical experience. That early exposure cemented a lifelong passion for wool.
By 1982, Kevin had established his own wool classing run and has since built a respected career spanning all aspects of wool preparation and grower support. Today, he works closely with clients across Otago to help them maximise returns and meet quality standards. He is also a long-standing Board Member of the New Zealand Wool Classers Association (NZWCA), where he advocates for classer development and sale-ready presentation.
Kevin can assist with:
• Wool preparation to maximise grower returns
• Classing finer wools into consistent lines
• In-shed wool valuations
• Tracking wool results through to sale completion
• Drafting and culling for wool selection (all breeds)
• Ram selection to suit wool goals
Kevin is known for his depth of knowledge, practical approach, and genuine commitment to helping growers get the best out of their wool.
