Dan Nicholls brings a strong commercial background and a fresh operational perspective to his role as Wool Operations and Business Manager at PGW Wool. Based in Christchurch, Dan stepped into this newly created role after four years supporting the wool and real estate divisions as part of the PGW finance team.

With a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Canterbury, Dan began his career at Deloitte in Wellington, gaining valuable experience in insolvency and corporate finance, working with clients across agriculture and transport. He later joined Dulux NZ’s finance team before heading overseas, returning to New Zealand to join PGW in 2020.

Dan’s role focuses on overseeing PGW’s four woolstores nationwide, ensuring they are equipped with the right resources, people and systems to deliver the high level of service expected by growers and customers. He also works closely with internal teams, suppliers and clients to help drive strategic initiatives and ensure the business is well positioned for the future of wool – particularly as sustainability and traceability become key market drivers.

Although relatively new to the wool industry, Dan is passionate about the sector and brings new ideas with a commercial mindset to complement the deep wool knowledge within the PGW team.

Outside of work, Dan is a former Ice Blacks and Canterbury Red Devils representative playing over 100 games in the NZIHL and continues to be involved in the local ice hockey community. He and his partner Samantha are proud parents to a son, who keeps them happily busy when Dan’s not on the ice or in the office.
