Historic Olrig Station in Hawke’s Bay sold under the hammer by the PGG Wrightson Real Estate team on Friday 10 November. The property sold for $10.170 million.
Interest was strong in the spectacular 848 hectare property, which came to the market for the first time since 1859.

Recent Angus yearling bull sales are on a high with record results around the country and Kakahu Angus Stud near Geraldine was no exception to this strong outcome for breeders throughout New Zealand. Some prices were up by more than $1,000 a head, achieving gains of 30 percent plus on last year. Other sales had gains of $300 to $500 a head.

Waitatapia Station in the Rangitikei District near Palmerston North is a fifth generation farm with four separate blocks totalling an area of 2,500 hectares. The Station has annual finishing numbers of 35,000 lambs and 4,000 steers along with 9,000 pre-isolation heifers, so it is important that their production crops perform at a high level.

Every year the PGG Wrightson Livestock team runs the Murray family’s joint Matariki Hereford and Woodbank Angus bull sale in late June. The Murray farms are located north of the Clarence River, where SH1 is currently closed, so they had to helicopter in many of their buyers. Rachel Parkin from Seven Sharp was present and captured the sale in action.
