At PGG Wrightson (PGW) the wellbeing of our customers, staff and suppliers is paramount. We would like to update you on what we are doing at PGW following the World Health Organisation’s declaration of the COVID-19 virus as a global pandemic and the New Zealand government’s subsequent announcements.
‘Helping grow the country’ is our vision, it is at the heart of what we do, and this remains the case in times of challenge and adversity. Our thoughts are with those who have been affected by COVID-19, and we want to do what we can to continue to support our customers and communities and to do our part to help minimise the impacts of the virus.
We continue to develop PGW’s response as matters develop and official information comes to hand, and we are doing what we can to ensure our stores and other locations are a safe place to work and visit. As a valued customer of PGW, we believe it is important to share with you some of the measures we are taking to reduce the risk of exposure to the virus while visiting our stores or interacting with PGW staff.
Ways of working and our interactions:
We have reassessed how we interact internally and with you, our customers, and have asked our staff to be extra mindful of good hygiene and adopt recommended greeting protocols. We are also encouraging the use of our technology platforms where practical and have limited staff travel and larger gatherings. Accordingly, we have cancelled and postponed events that involve the congregation of larger groups.
Our PGW sites are all open:
Team members in our stores and offices take pride in providing you with a first class service in a safe and welcoming environment. We are increasing our cleaning regimes to ensure that our nationwide locations are disinfected frequently. Meanwhile, we encourage you to also use alternatives such as our Onto Farm offering for ordering bulk supplies by phone on 0800 ONTO FARM (0800 66 86 32) or by completing an online order form. Order online with Onto Farm >
We continue to operate our Livestock Saleyards and there will be increased cleaning and controls put in place, given the number of people that could attend sales. We also recommend you use the bidr® online platform for the trading of livestock. Visit bidr website >
Supply chain:
While there has been disruption in international supply chains across a number of industries, we are working hard with our suppliers to try and minimise supply issues for you. We would, however, encourage you to plan ahead and think about your essential inputs in advance so we can prepare for any international supply chain issues that might arise.
Expert advice:
We are following the Ministry of Health’s guidelines and we encourage you and staff to familiarise yourselves with these. There is a lot of information circulating in relation to COVID-19 and not all of it is accurate. We therefore recommend keeping up to date with information from authorised sources such as the Ministry of Health’s website. Visit Ministry of Health website >
We have business continuity plans to deal with potential disruptions and events that may arise. We will provide updates as matters develop on our website and will communicate with you directly if your PGW local store or area is affected.
PGW is committed to supporting our customers through this challenging period and beyond. We will continue to take practical and considered measures in the way we manage our stores and other work locations, and in our interactions with you. The pandemic is a major global event and we wish to reassure our customers and stakeholders that PGW will do what it can to prepare and respond to challenges that emerge.
