News Release 14 March 2007PGG Wrightson to purchase AgCentral PGG Wrightson has entered into an agreement to purchase the farm supplies business of Tatua Co-Operative Dairy Company, the 118 member co-operative located in eastern Waikato and processing 140 million litres of milk per year. The farm supplies business, branded AgCentral, is located across the road from the Tatua processing site in Tatuanui. It has been ervicing Tatua suppliers and other dairy farming clients since 1967. The purchase will enable PGG Wrightson to strengthen its presence in the substantial Waikato dairy sector. PGG Wrightson plans to extend the range of services currently offered by AgCentral to include the full offering from PGG Wrightson, including finance, insurance, real estate, livestock services, farm consultancy and training, animal health and nutrition. The Chief Executive Officer of PGG Wrightson, Barry Brook, said: “We are delighted to be entrusted with AgCentral, a long-standing erchandise business that has been integral to Tatua. Having this presence in a premier dairying locality means PGG Wrightson will be able to strengthen its dairying service offering. Our intention is to continue a partnership with Tatua to ensure harmony between both parties, and our focus will be on improving the on-farm productivity and profitability of Tatua suppliers.” Tatua Chief Executive Officer Dr Mike Matthews said the specialist rural retailing skills and purchasing power of PGG Wrightson would provide significant benefits for the Tatua suppliers. “Our decision to sell AgCentral reflects a high level of confidence that this is the best way to position the business for future development, to the ultimate benefit of our suppliers and other clients,” he said.Ends For Further Information: Barry Brook Steve Allen Mike Matthews |
