The Chairman of PGG Wrightson, Bill Baylis, announced today that the Board has appointed Craig Norgate as Deputy Chairman, effective immediately.

This appointment is to support the conventional Chairman and CEO roles and recognises the significant stakeholder demands of a national agribusiness that touches almost every corner of New Zealand and which also has a growing international presence.  In addition Mr Norgate will work with the CEO on major strategic initiatives.

“I am delighted that Mr Norgate has accepted the wishes of the Board that he take on this formal role” said Mr Baylis.

Mr Norgate said that “the difficulties farmers are facing due to an overvalued currency mean that opportunities apparent at the time of the merger have become even more important for the future of the sector and I look forward to assisting the company deliver on its promise in any way that I can”.
