| This 12 week programme has been designed to provide the skills and knowledge needed to gain employment in the Dairy Industry as a Relief Milker or Farm Hand, or to gain entry into further training. This course will be of great value to: • People wanting to enter the dairy farming industry • School students (16 and over), looking for ‘after school’ employment opportunities • People with some previous experience looking for a refresher course to update their knowledge and refresh their skills Topics covered include: • How to handle stock safely • Handling and health of dairy cattle • How milking plants work • How to milk cows • Knowledge of the dairy industry • Skills you can use to gain employment on farms Qualification On successful completion of the course, you will receive an Aoraki or Telford Certificate. You will also gain Unit Standards that contribute towards National Qualifications.
